Media Autobiography

April 13, 2010

I have a personal rule that I have to finish at least one book a month. I do not limit myself to any type of books, I read just about anything. I recently finished “Catch-22” after attempting to read it a few years back. The next book on my list to read is “2666” by Roberto Bolano. I subscribe to two magazines, “TIME” and “Fortune.” I try to read a bit from both of them a day. As far as music is concerned, I cannot live without it. I am an avid music collector and refuse to convert to digital downloads. I love movies as well. Movies excite many senses and emotions in me. I try to watch a new movie every week. I hardly ever listen to the radio. I did in the past but now I rarely spend time in my car. It’s funny how we only tend to listen to the radio while driving. It used to be that when radio was first invented families would sit around and listen to the radio together. This is not the case anymore, and I am not the exception.  I hardly watch television, and if I do its only to watch the news. If there is a show I really like I tend to just purchase it on DVD. I have a strange relationship with the internet. It is sort of a love/hate relationship. I compare it to an addictive relationship where the two people are completely tired of each other but yet cannot live without the other. I find myself missing the internet when its not around and yet when I do have it around it consumes all my time. It is a blessing and yet a curse. A classic example of a “catch-22”
